Zirkzee’s potential departure
Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee is reportedly open to a transfer to Juventus, a move that could facilitate new attacking signings for the English club. Zirkzee, who featured in United’s initial pre-season match against Wrexham, has played a limited number of competitive minutes under Michael Carrick.
Several clubs in Serie A have shown interest in the versatile attacker. Juventus is understood to be a leading contender, despite their primary focus being Randal Kolo Muani. Talks between Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain for Kolo Muani have reportedly stalled, leading Juventus to contact Zirkzee regarding his availability.
Reports from La Gazzetta Dello Sport indicate that Zirkzee has given an initial agreement to the idea of joining Juventus, expressing interest in returning to Italy. A loan move is reportedly preferred by Luciano Spalletti’s side, with plans for another attempt to sign Kolo Muani.
Manchester United would likely prefer a permanent transfer for Zirkzee to reinvest the funds into the squad, potentially for a replacement. A deal could include an obligation to buy. Zirkzee had sought to leave in January but was not granted the opportunity by United at that time.
Midfield and attacking targets
While the focus remains on strengthening the midfield, United are also exploring options in the striker market. The club is considering bringing in an experienced attacker, possibly one familiar with the Premier League.
New signings already confirmed include Karl Darlow, Youri Tielemans, and Andrey Santos. A third midfield signing is also anticipated. Manu Kone of AS Roma and Alex Scott of Bournemouth are reportedly on United’s shortlist, though both players have attracted interest from other clubs.
Chelsea reportedly had an offer for Scott turned down. Scott, who is under contract with Bournemouth until 2028, has reportedly declined a new contract proposal from his current club, according to one report. This development could be a boost for United’s pursuit of the midfielder.
United’s interest in Scott aligns with Carrick’s reported desire for an additional midfield player. Tyler Adams, Scott’s club colleague, has also been linked with a move to Old Trafford. Additionally, Arsenal has shown interest in Scott, though their main midfield target is reportedly Bruno Guimaraes.
The club is also considering a new signing for the left wing, with Crysencio Summerville and Iliman Ndiaye linked. However, Summerville appears set to join Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League, with a bid accepted by West Ham. The potential sale of Zirkzee could contribute to funding a new forward signing.

Other potential departures
Beyond Zirkzee, there are discussions about other potential departures from Manchester United. Lisandro Martinez, who experienced injuries for much of the previous season, could also be considered for a transfer this summer.
A former chief scout for United suggested that Martinez’s continued fitness concerns could lead the club to consider his departure. Martinez’s ability to remain available for selection is a significant factor for the club, despite his strong performance when fit.
His aggressive playing style and proficiency on the ball make him a valuable asset when he is able to play. However, if injury issues persist, the club may look to move him on, with interest expected from clubs in Spain and other regions.
Zirkzee’s arrival at United was during Erik ten Hag’s management. He has made 19 Premier League starts and scored five goals in his two seasons at Old Trafford.

Juventus’s chief football officer, Ricky Massara, has reportedly been in extensive contact with Zirkzee’s representatives as the Italian club works to secure a deal for the forward.
