Manchester United’s Midfield Pursuit
Manchester United has reportedly made an enquiry regarding Real Madrid and France midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni. This comes as the club seeks to bolster its midfield ahead of the upcoming Premier League season. Reports indicate that Real Madrid is open to the possibility of selling the 26-year-old defensive midfielder to Manchester United.
The club has already secured the signings of Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa. Manager Michael Carrick’s side is now reportedly targeting Tchouameni as a potential third midfield acquisition. Tchouameni is under contract at the Bernabeu until 2028, with some reports suggesting a new contract until 2031, though this has not been officially announced by Real Madrid.
In addition to Tchouameni, Manchester United is also considering other midfield options. These include AS Roma and France midfielder Manu Kone, 25, and Brighton’s 22-year-old Cameroon international Carlos Baleba. Bournemouth’s 27-year-old United States midfielder Tyler Adams, valued at about £35m, is another player reportedly on Carrick’s radar.
Other Transfer Market Activities
Elsewhere in the transfer market, Arsenal is reportedly pursuing Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. The Brazilian midfielder has reportedly expressed a desire to move from St James’ Park. Newcastle is said to be growing agitated by the ongoing speculation surrounding Guimaraes’s future. Arsenal reportedly believes a deal for the 28-year-old could be achieved for around £75 million, though Newcastle would seek a higher fee.
Chelsea is reportedly accelerating its pursuit of Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott. The Blues had a £64 million bid rejected by the south coast club. Despite Bournemouth’s stance that the 22-year-old is not for sale, Scott is reportedly keen on a move to Chelsea. Arsenal and Manchester City have also been linked with interest in Scott.
In other news, Manchester City has completed the signing of Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest. Anderson moves to the Etihad Stadium on a five-year deal until 2031 for a fee of £116 million. Manchester United had also shown interest in the England international.
Chelsea is reportedly the favourite to sign Bosnia-Herzegovina attacking midfielder Kerim Alajbegovic, 18, from Bayer Leverkusen. Chelsea has also agreed a deal to sign 15-year-old American winger Benji Flowers from Major League Soccer side FC Dallas when he turns 18. Additionally, Real Madrid is in talks with Crystal Palace to sell French centre-back Axel Disasi, 28.
Arsenal and Manchester City are among the clubs vying to sign Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig. RB Leipzig previously rejected a £69m bid from Liverpool for the 19-year-old. Liverpool and England Under-20 defender Amara Nallo, 19, is set to join Finnish club HJK Helsinki on a season-long loan.
Celtic and Japan striker Daizen Maeda, 28, is scheduled for a medical on Friday to finalise his £10m move to Ipswich Town. Leeds United’s English winger Jack Harrison, 29, is reportedly nearing a move to MLS side New England Revolution. Everton is reportedly interested in Celtic’s Alistair Johnston, 27, who impressed for Canada at the World Cup. Aston Villa is interested in signing 25-year-old Everton and England midfielder James Garner this summer.
Manchester City boss Enzo Maresca remains keen on signing Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez, 25, and France full-back Malo Gusto, 23, from former club Chelsea. Manchester United has also made an enquiry for Crystal Palace winger Ismaila Sarr. Fenerbahce’s Archie Brown, 24, is reportedly being followed by both Manchester United and Chelsea, with his club setting an asking price of €20 million (£17m).
Manchester United is also negotiating compensation fees with Manchester City and Liverpool for academy players David Eze, Karim Cassim, and Isaac Konde, with plans for them to join the club’s Under-18s squad.
The club is reportedly in no rush to complete a third midfield signing and is taking time to assess the market. Aurelien Tchouameni has emerged as a top target for Manchester United, with Real Madrid reportedly willing to offload him to Carrick’s side.
