Barcelona are reportedly exploring a deal for Bayern Munich and England star Harry Kane, following the departure of Robert Lewandowski. Reports indicate that Barcelona have made contact with Kane‘s representatives to express their interest in signing the striker.
Kane, who has scored 70 goals in 60 games for club and country this season, is currently representing England at the World Cup. His future at Bayern Munich is uncertain as he is set to enter the final year of his contract. While there has been speculation about a return to the Premier League, a move to Barcelona is now being considered as another potential option.
Lewandowski’s departure and Barcelona’s search
Robert Lewandowski has concluded his time at FC Barcelona, after four seasons where he scored 116 goals in 190 matches. During his tenure, he secured several league titles and was the top goal scorer in LaLiga. Lewandowski is now set to join MLS side Chicago Fire on a free transfer, with the signing expected to be made official soon.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Sunday that Lewandowski‘s move to Chicago Fire is a done deal. He stated that the Polish striker agreed to join the club after visiting the city two weeks prior and is expected to sign early next week, marking a new chapter in the MLS.
With Lewandowski‘s departure, Barcelona is actively seeking a replacement striker. Julián Álvarez was reportedly considered a primary target for a summer signing. However, the institutional relationship between Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid is strained, with the Madrid club reportedly suing Barcelona before FIFA for allegedly negotiating with the Argentinian player without their knowledge.
Kane’s stance and Bayern’s position
According to reports, Barcelona‘s interest in Kane has led them to reach out to his representatives. However, they were informed that Kane does not wish to discuss his future while the World Cup is ongoing. Consequently, Barcelona has reportedly agreed to revisit discussions after the tournament concludes.
Despite Barcelona‘s interest, Kane‘s current priority appears to be his situation at Bayern Munich. He is reportedly very content in Bavaria, and the Bundesliga champions would likely resist any attempts to sign their star player. It is understood that Kane‘s camp halted initial conversations with Barcelona, and their focus after the World Cup is expected to be on negotiating a new deal with Bayern.
Earlier this year, when asked about interest from Barcelona, Kane remained non-committal. He stated that he had not heard anything directly and that his father and brother handle such matters, but they had not informed him of any developments. He reiterated his happiness at Bayern and his focus on the current season, adding with a laugh that he would take the interest as a compliment.
While SPORT reports that Barcelona has not made a formal offer to Bayern, there was an inquiry to gauge Kane‘s willingness to move when Lewandowski‘s departure became likely. Kane‘s contract with Bayern is set to end in 2027. He reportedly requested an extension until 2030, but Bayern was only willing to extend it until 2029.
The situation bears some similarities to Lewandowski‘s arrival at Barcelona in 2022, who was 33 years old at the time and also joined from Bayern Munich. Kane will turn 33 in July, suggesting that if he continues his current performance level, he could still have several productive years ahead.

Kane‘s impressive form includes being a serious contender for the Ballon d’Or this season, further highlighting his value to Bayern Munich and any potential suitors. His focus remains on the ongoing World Cup with England.
